BENEFITS OF CORRECT WHEEL ALIGNMENT

Wheel alignment is the alignment of wheels to the manufacturer’s set specifications and is designed to give you the most comfortable ride as well as improve the life and wear of your vehicle’s tyres. Irregular alignment can cause uneven wear of your tyres and compromise the safety of your vehicle.

EFFECTS OF POOR NEARSIDE WHEEL ALIGNMENT

The image shows typical excessive tyre tread wear caused by poor Wheel alignment.
If this tyre was on the nearside (passenger side nearest the curb) it would represent what is known as “toe-in” and would be reported on the alignment report for correction.
Alternatively, it could be reported by the alignment system that it is the camber which needs adjustment. This would probably show up visually as a smooth worn patch as opposed to the toe-in problem which is a more rough wear area.

EFFECTS OF POOR FARSIDE WHEEL ALIGNMENT

The image shows typical excessive tyre tread wear caused by poor Wheel alignment.
If this tyre was on the farside it would represent what is known as “toe-out” and would be reported on the alignment report for correction.
Alternatively, it could be reported by the alignment system that it is the camber which needs adjustment. This would probably show up visually as a smooth worn patch as opposed to the toe-in problem which is a more rough wear area.
CAR TRACKING WITH LEATHERHEAD MOTOR COMPANY
The traditional system of checking the tracking on a car involved stands, bars and mirrors placed on the ground.
Today the LMC wheel alignment system replaces this old often inaccurate process with computer-controlled laser-guided measurement systems and integrated, comprehensive computer databases containing the precise, correct settings for nearly all makes, models and variants of motor cars.
